The Story

Warren and Wayne Wood Co. started out as a hobby in 2008 by Tyler Spence and Rory Bushfield using their middles names as the stamp of approval on their creations. In the beginning it was just an excuse to go adventuring around the Sea to Sky Corridor to find unique pieces of wood and to spend time in the garage. This excuse quickly turned into a passion for the pursuit of old stumps and logs and constructing them into unique pieces of wood furniture.

Eventually Rory continued on pursuing his ski career and Tyler decided to turn Warren and Wayne Wood Co. into a fully operating business in 2015. Although Rory may not be at the forefront, he and Tyler take every opportunity to get out searching for giant pieces of wood and collaborate in the shop as much as possible.

Tyler’s interest for woodworking and milling came from working alongside his dad and grandpa. His grandpa built anything he needed using the raw materials around him and milled his own lumber. Tyler also watched his father build homes and cabins and would be brought along to do the grunt work. From these experiences Tyler came to the realization that anything handmade especially furniture has a unique way of telling a story, allowing cherished memories to live on for generations.

Graduating from BCIT with a diploma in building technology, Tyler started working as a Project Coordinator and took on the corporate world. He soon realized he would rather create desks and boardroom tables than work at them. He quit his job and pursued woodworking full time and has never looked back.  

Tyler specializes in designing and constructing custom wood furniture. He is able to create a piece of furniture in the style that best fits you and your space. Should you want to provide an extra element to your furniture, Tyler is able to incorporate other materials, into his pieces. There is no project too big or too small.

The intent of Warren and Wayne is to preserve and emphasize the raw beauty that a wood slab, stump, or board possess’ and design it into a unique piece, that will last for generations. Our passion is finding the right piece of wood for each project and creating beautiful and functional furniture. The uniqueness of each piece of wood that we find is the design inspiration for the furniture we make. All of our pieces started with an adventure in the great outdoors and end with a story that will last a lifetime.
